Baseball Baptism

Aleks and Tracy were just two of over 300 people to be baptized during a mass baptism ceremony here on Sunday. The annual event usually takes place at a lake north of South Bend, but this year they had the opportunity to hold it in the minor league baseball stadium. Tracy's apparent emotions during the day attracted me to photograph them at several different points.

Vince

Vince is a WWII vet from New York City and he really belongs back in Central Park next to a chess board. He told me and Ed that if he can make one person laugh a day then he's done his job. We chuckled at that and he said, "OK, now I can go home and sleep." He has also built a street rep for himself by fake sword fighting passers-by with his cane, mostly other people with canes or in wheelchairs. "I've never touched anybody in 20 years," he said, "but now I get people that point to me and say 'stay away from him, he's that mean old guy.' I have fun with it."

Lights

Looking through old files I found a collection of lamppost-inspired shots. Perhaps they have some symbolic meaning to my subconscious but mostly I find they provide interesting lines in otherwise static compositions.
